I haven’t really been following Penmachine dot com for long, but Derek K Miller’s recording of his journey battling cancer was a moving thing to read. What I most admired about this man was that he wasn’t afraid of death; he developed cancer in 2006, which became worse in 2007, but he lived his limited time to the full. 

While, of course, I didn’t know him personally, Derek’s writing allowed his readers to make a personal connection to him; it feels like I’ve lost a friend here.
