Hear Me Out - Frou Frou

This is one of my current favourite songs. It’s sampled from my favourite song of all time, An Ending by Brian Eno, but the added sounds and Imogen Heap’s voice make this a really good chillout track. However, listen to the lyrics and you’ll find out it’s a pretty depressing song.

“I join the queue on your answerphone, and all I am is holding breath…just pick up; I know you’re there”

The song deals with an individual desperate to get their ex (or uninterested) lover back, but also deals with how much they mean to the individual: “Go ahead and lie to me…you could say anything. Small talk will be just fine, your voice is everything”. It’s an emotion that we’ve all had to deal with, and this song illustrates it in a very refined way. Heap’s vocals are almost hypnotic; it’s one of those songs that you can have on repeat for hours and never get bored.
